Software for flat-fee and subscription law firms
Firms that charge flat fees and monthly plans usually choose between three kinds of software. This page sets out what each kind does, what it typically costs, and where LexBooks fits. Prices are the typical published ranges, checked in November 2026; check each vendor's own site before you decide.
Per-user practice management software
Full practice management suites: matters, contacts, time, billing, calendars, documents and trust accounting, usually built around hourly billing, with flat fees as one billing type.
Typical priceTypically about $39 to $179 per user a month, depending on the tier.

Invoicing and online payments for law firms, often with cards on file and scheduled payments. Some charge a monthly fee per firm; most add a fee on each payment.
Typical priceFrom about $19 a month per firm, plus a fee on each payment; time-and-billing tools typically about $27 to $75 per user a month.

Newer tools that help a firm design subscription plans and let clients sign up and pay for them, sometimes connected to a separate practice management product.
Typical priceVaries: some are free to start and charge once clients subscribe, some do not publish prices.

Plans, proposals and signed engagement letters, invoices that follow the agreement, matters, time, calendar, documents and a trust ledger.
Price$19 a month per firm, unlimited users
Trust accounts
Keep a ledger for each client and a journal for each trust account: records that ABA Model Rule 1.15 and the ABA Model Rules for Client Trust Account Records describe, and that state rules ask lawyers to keep. LexBooks will not record a payment out that is larger than what the client holds. Your state's own rule sets the details, such as how often you reconcile with your bank statement and how long you keep the records; the reconciliation remains yours to do. Your bank holds the funds, and your firm remains responsible for its trust account.
For solo and small law firms: 30 days free, with no card needed to start.
